![]() At it’s heart the game is a small bucket o’ dice game. There’s some very cool aspects to this game. Finally when we got it and played it I was blown away. We spoke to Mark at Origins in 2017 about it and he was very, very excited about. When announced it just didn’t spark my interest. It’s a near future wargame set in the middle east based on some hypotheticals. Thematically speaking I have basically zero attachment to this game. Shamefully I have not played this one in a while. ![]() Armageddon Warįlying Pig Games (2018), Designed by Greg Porter Video Review of South Pacific, an Empire of the Sun Mini Game from C3i 7. Vassal is a great way to learn this game, but sitting down and hashing out a game with Grant is such a rewarding and challenging experience it will remain a perennial favourite. There’s a lot to digest, and a lot of places to trip up on the rules, but the freedom this title provides as Supreme High Commander is astounding considering that at it’s core it’s a Card Driven Game (CDG). Mark Herman’s beast EotS is a deep, rich, and crunchy game. It’s still such a new, different, and unique military theater that I’m always drawn to games on the topic. As such basically all I know from The Pacific has been through Grant, wargames, and my own independent reading. I think in A Levels and university that would have been an option, but I choose to study Classic Civilization and English Literature for my A Levels instead, and then Biology (?!) at university. At school there was such a heavy focus on WWI, and then the causes of WWII, and the interwar period that I never learned about the Pacific really. I mentioned I like Pacific Games, right? I’m not sure what it is that appeals to me about them, but I think my lack of knowledge and exposure growing up could have done it. GMT Games (2005), Designed by Mark Herman I’m also a sucker for Pacific Theater games so this was an instant hit for me. These elements contribute to a great balance between the Pacific Theater’s unique historical setting, and actually having a fun and playable game. Pacific Victory adds a number of elements compared to other block wargames from Columbia HQ activations, tropical cyclones, and a map shaped in such a way to denote supply lines. The map is very big, with huge hexes to fit all your blocks in, there’s good China sub rules (without being overly complex), and for a game at this scale it’s not overly long. They updated the block graphics, rulebook, and map a little. The first edition of this game came out in 2000, and from what I can tell the Second edition is much the same gameplay wise. Typically fun, fast paced and a little chaotic these games also look and feel great on the table. I enjoy block wargames, most of them fall into that beer and pretzels category. Pacific Victory (Second Edition)Ĭolumbia Games (2018), Designed by Tom Dalgliesh ![]() There’s a bunch of expansions which just add more and more (most of which are super fun) so you can have as much or as little of this game as you want. All the fun and light wargame feel from the C&C system with my favourite theme, sci-fi, and bumper production value. Red Alert gives me awesome space ships on standees I can fly around, make pew-pew noises, chuck some dice and make them explode. From our old Airfix, Revell, Matchbox, and Tamiya 1/72 scale, to my dads 28mm white metal Napoleonics (from his university days) I just have an affinity for models. At my core I will always love miniatures, scale models, and table top wargaming. Red alert is my favourite for a couple of reasons, it has the very obvious toy-factor for me, and the chrome parts are great, and finally the sci-fi theme just speaks to me. Red Alert is actually a Commands & Colors game, of which we have played may games from many titles in the line. PSC Games (2019), Designed by Richard Borg Also my favourites do fluctuate so if you hear me tout a game as my favourite, or if you watch our Top 5 GMT games on YouTube and it’s not #1 here. It’s just an opinion but those don’t feel the same as something like Stalingrad ’42 for example. I’m also leaving off a Players’ Aid favourite Churchill for that same reason. There might be some glaring omissions from this list but then there’s always that age old argument of “is Twilight Struggle a wargame?” For the Purposes of these lists it is not. ![]() So, for some greater clarity I’m creating two Top 10 lists for myself: Top 10 Wargames, and Top 10 Board Games. When we started this website I had no idea what it would grow into, or in what direction it would lead us.

![]() we went up to get an order of crab legs that was luke warm, ans my husband had got scallops and oysters they were cold. on this night a whole section of the buffet was out of order. we have been to capt georges many times, but i am sorry to say that our last few visits have been less than desirable. ![]() Or, perhaps, try for early rather than late. My suggestion would be, if you walk in on a slow night and the pans are near empty, consider walking back out. I commend their willingness but am unimpressed by the execution. Given the food we tasted, at that cost, even understanding the circumstances, and with sincere apologies and attempts at amends, it’s a pretty good bet that we will not be going back. Even so, with drinks, tip and tax, the bill was about forty-five dollars. Ultimately, they only charged us for one meal. Given that each person pays more than thirty dollars for the privilege, the restaurant needs to deal with the conditions as they are. I suppose in many ways, this is the most difficult time to keep a buffet appetizing when the pans empty in half-hours or hours rather than minutes, but that is the business Captain George is in. There were not twenty customers in the place. For what it's worth, we went to the restaurant on a Monday night, about 7:30 p.m., on March 1, so it was an off day in the off season. That turned out to be impossible, as the oily margarine dip did in my ambition before I could break enough of those tiny legs to make a meal. I believe it was a sincere promise, but by then my wife had lost her appetite, and I had resolved to try to get my value out of the crab legs. Our waiter immediately fetched the manager, and the manager was willing to have the kitchen prepare for us any dish that we had found unsatisfactory. When asked how the food was, I explained as gently as possible the many failings. What keeps Captain George's from last place was the service. Altogether, more than enough to rate this restaurant near the bottom of a very long list. I tried to make the best of it by eating as many crab legs as possible-but the diminutive crabs who'd donated made that a difficult task. My wife nibbled at a few items, couldn’t stomach most, and settled for a couple things from the dessert table. For example, we found two pieces of tuna in one, three pieces of salmon in the next, a few scraps of Mahi, cool broccoli, and on and on. Most pans were near empty, with food lukewarm at best, yet still overcooked. Our experience at Captain George’s buffet was not good. By the way, they calculate your tip at 15% and add it to your check. Unless your pockets are deep and you don't mind dining with ill-mannered children, I would stongly recommend going somewhere else. ![]() Why would you take a 2 year old to a $35 per plate restaurant anyway? Get them a happy meal & leave them with a sitter. There should be a section in this massive building to sit families with young children, away from adults who are trying to enjoy their over-priced meal and carry on a conversation without having their guests repeat themselves constantly due to ill-mannered children. This was just the topper to a meal spent listening to a 2 year old who did not know how to behave in public and parents who did nothing to control their child. He kept blaming the credit card company, and in no way tried to make it right. He refused to take any off the bill, or even offer a discount on a future meal. The manager was not sympathic, and only offered excuses & a half-hearted apology for the"inconvienence". The servers kept saying "it'll be a couple minutes". There was an issue with their credit card reader, which caused many patrons to sit for 30-45 minutes waiting for the staff to figure out what to do. While there was a wide variety of seafood, the price was astronomical. Most people don’t care much about insoles but Skechers Arch Fit can make you change your mind. In 2002, Kia dropped the Sephia name altogether and began calling the sedan "Spectra" as well. New to Kia's lineup, the four-door Spectra hatchback served as a more youthful and practical complement to the more pedestrian Sephia sedan, with which it shared its 124-hp, 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine and major mechanicals. The first-generation Kia Spectra was launched in the 2000 model year as a four-door hatchback and was offered through the 2004 model year (with the changeover to the current model happening midyear). Those looking for a used second-generation Spectra should note that resale values are quite low, so good deals will likely be easy to find. Criticisms included the engine's lack of pep at high speeds, disappointing real-world fuel economy, and steering that was a tad sloppy. In reviews, we generally praised the Kia Spectra for its lengthy list of standard equipment, user-friendly cabin design, decent build and materials quality, smooth ride and competent handling. The Spectra's safety features included standard front seat-mounted side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags and four-wheel disc brakes. The SX model added upgraded interior and exterior trim, along with firmer suspension tuning and bigger wheels and tires. The LX was bare-bones, but the EX boasted air-conditioning, a CD stereo, full power accessories and keyless entry. The Spectra5 hatchback was available in a single SX trim. The sedan was offered in three trim levels - LX, EX and SX. A standard five-speed manual transmission routed power to the front wheels, and a four-speed automatic was optional. Both body styles featured a 138-horsepower, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that provided spirited performance around town but felt a little winded during highway passing maneuvers. It was a compact sedan or (as of 2005) a hatchback that could seat four comfortably and five in a pinch. The most recent (second-generation) Kia Spectra was sold from midway through the 2004 model year through 2009. If you just need wheels on the cheap, a used Spectra could satisfy, but we'd recommend anteing up for a more sophisticated rival. However, the Spectra was still at the bottom of the crowded economy sedan segment when it was put out to pasture after the 2009 model year. ![]() But the second-generation Spectra sedan and Spectra5 four-door hatchback counterpart moved up the scale considerably in terms of style, substance and refinement. They reinforced the cheap-car image Americans held at the time regarding Korean cars. The original Kia Spectra hatchback and sedan were unrefined, underpowered and cheaply constructed. Kia never quite managed to do that with its now-defunct Spectra, though its replacement, the Forte is considerably closer to this ideal. People buy compact economy cars because they're affordable and fuel-efficient, but the secret to building a great econobox is to make it look, feel and drive like a more expensive car than it really is. ![]() After all, the rewards for plaintiff can be vast-especially since many defendants will settle to avoid embarrassing court proceedings. Some cynics view herpes lawsuits differently. ![]() Her lawyer Randall Vogt described her as a "heroine" holding a "dangerous" man responsible for his actions, and sending a message that people needed to be held accountable for their actions. In a 2012 lawsuit that became known as the " eHarmony case," for instance, an unnamed 49-year-old woman sued a man off the dating site for negligence and battery after he infected her with herpes. Some have argued that civil suits help protect the general public from those who engage in risky, unprotected sex by holding them responsible for their behavior. X was her last partner since then, and he has it and his medical records show that he has it, then it isn't so complicated." "Assuming she limits her partners, and goes for regular exams, and she can say that Mr. So how difficult is it to prove in court that someone gave you herpes? "It depends how many partners the woman has had," Jaroslawicz explains. "And I tell them that there's no point in suing, because if they win they're not getting any money." "I've gotten calls from a lot of women who've told me they dated a guy who works at a Burger King and he gave them a disease," says attorney David Jaroslawicz, who specializes in civil STD suits. "That's because HIV is most prevalent in under-resourced communities where a civil suit would be pointless, since people without money and regular employment are essentially damages-proof." "You see so few civil suits concerning alleged HIV transmission," says Catherine Hanssens of the Center for HIV Law and Policy. Herpes suits could also be more common due to the financial resources of people who contract and pass on herpes. In some cases, patients may experience flu-like symptoms, headaches, or have difficulty passing urine. You can suffer outbreaks at any time-lesions that crust over or bleed itching and even painful open sores. Why sue over herpes, and not, for example, gonorrhea? It could be due to the incurable nature of the former. In one example from 1996, a 32-year-old woman sued her ex-boyfriend for knowingly exposing her to, and infecting her with, herpes. Most of the cases listed on the site involve women suing their heterosexual partners for considerable sums of money. There are few records of the total number of STD transmission lawsuits filed over the years, but Herpes News, a blog for those who have the virus, says that civil suits involving herpes stretch back over two decades. ![]() Read more: A Hostage Negotiator Explains How to Tell Someone You Gave Them an STI Helm is now suing Usher-real name Usher Raymond IV-for $20 million in damages for "extreme and debilitating mental, emotional and physical distress and anguish, humiliation and embarrassment." Helm was later diagnosed with type two of the herpes simplex virus (HSV-2)-a lifelong infection that can cause painful blisters and ulcers around the genitalia, and can be transmitted to other people even when the carrier isn't showing symptoms. Then a painful, pea-sized one appeared on her vagina. As he took another shower, Helm let herself out of the hotel room.ĭays later, Helm claims she noticed a bump on the inside of her cheek. Immediately after they had sex, Usher got up and ran to the bathroom. Afterwards, Usher put on jazz music and went down on her. At first she demurred, but subsequently agreed. When he came back, he encouraged Helm to give him a blowjob on the balcony. After chatting for a while, he disappeared for a shower. Usher opened his hotel room door, smelling freshly showered. She claims this subsequent sexual encounter was also odd. According to Helm's court filing, as reported in Radar, they had sex again a few weeks later. |
